A teacher who worked at St. Vincent de Paul claims she was fired due to recieving in vitro fertalization. She is now sueing the school for firing her. Since in vitro goes against what the church says (depending on the day) she says that this is what made her be fired. She had been teaching there for eight years, and there was no other reason for as to why she was fired. This brings up the issue of the seperation of church and state.

I believe that she had no reason to be fired. The church is always preaching about how they want life, and that they are prolife. This is so stupid that she was fired for attempting to bring life into the world. I think that she should win this case and get her job back too. Since the church is saying that they want life, and this can cause it, I don't see why they are so against it. She should get her job back. I know that teachers here must not do anything that goes against the catholic church, but this is silly.
I read about this last night, and I was stunned. How is this an issue to the Catholic church? She's bringing life into the world. What's so wrong about that? Obviously she had to try and fail many times to turn to such an alternative. Shouldn't the Catholic church honor her for that? It is absolutely ridiculous that she was fired over how her child came to be. If I were her, I would sue for future cases, but I wouldn't want my job back because that school obviously doesn't realize how good, and moral, of a teacher they let go.
ReplyDeleteThis is totally ridiculous. Yeah true it's not natural conception, but if she is going through all of this to have a child there shouldn't be any problem. I agree with Madison about suing but not getting her job back. If they are going to fire her over this issue then you know they will treat her differently if she goes back. She needs to find a new job where she feels welcomed.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this woman should have been fired for this matter. Like you said, she had worked there for eight years. There is really no other reason why she would've been fired. I also think she was fired for receiving in vitro and that isn't right. There should definitely be legal action taken.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all those who have posted on this issue, it is wrong that the school fired her because of the vitro fertilization. However even though i do not agree with most of the churchs teachings, or decisions, they do have a right to fire this woman. The church follows a set of guidelines and she did break them, this gives that school full right to fire this teacher, even though most do not agree with the decision.
ReplyDeleteI think its dumb too everyone makrs everythubf into a huge deal itll be okay she should win her court case because its a catholic thing its dumb they should just drop it she shouldnt have gotten fired at all
