A teacher who worked at St. Vincent de Paul claims she was fired due to recieving in vitro fertalization. She is now sueing the school for firing her. Since in vitro goes against what the church says (depending on the day) she says that this is what made her be fired. She had been teaching there for eight years, and there was no other reason for as to why she was fired. This brings up the issue of the seperation of church and state.

I believe that she had no reason to be fired. The church is always preaching about how they want life, and that they are prolife. This is so stupid that she was fired for attempting to bring life into the world. I think that she should win this case and get her job back too. Since the church is saying that they want life, and this can cause it, I don't see why they are so against it. She should get her job back. I know that teachers here must not do anything that goes against the catholic church, but this is silly.

Week 14 (?)
This article is about the major sex scandal among 11 secret service men and 10 army personnel. In America, all prostitution is illegal. However, in Chartagena, it is perfectly legal, unless the girl is under age. So for us, it seems like a huge deal and they should be fired, which makes sense because what they did was wrong. However, to the people there, it seems normal because this sort of thing happens often. Also, it seems like a big deal to us because instead of doing their job, they were drinking and having sex with random women.

I think that the men who were involved in this need to be fired. They obviously don't do their job properly, and if I were the president I would be extremely upset. Also, the fact that they took advantage of a country's laws being different than ours for their own wants is selfish and disgusting. I think that since it's illegal here, then they should be charged with whatever it would be for if they had done it here.

week 13
This article is about the newest bout of attacks in Afghanistan. The Taliban went into the capital of Kabul and open fired. They attempted to attack the government buildings. Specifically, they were after NATO. The attacks also included a suicide bomber and many high tech and high powered weapons.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/15/afghanistan-taliban-kabul-coordinated-attacks-2012_n_1426497.html?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmaing7%7Cdl5%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D152199
My opinion on Afghanistan is that this just has to stop. It's completely horrid the events that happen there. I really wish I could give a solution to the problem, but I can't. I know that getting the majority of the troops out of there by 2014 won't help, but keeping them there doesn't seem to help much either. There needs to be major changes in Afghanistan for anything to begin to be gotten done.

WEEK 12-maybe? who knows...
The hacker group "Anonymous" now says that they have a new plan. This new plan being to hack into Chinese computers to show that they are violating human rights. China has said that yes in fact, many companies have been hacked recently, but won't say which. The leader was arrested last year, but there are still many more hackers.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/09/anonymous-china-hackers_n_1411775.html?ref=technology&icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl3%7Csec3_lnk2%26pLid%3D150351
I think that what Anonymous is doing is good. They are bringing light to issues that need addressing. However, how they are going about getting their ideas across is wrong. They should instead use their hacking powers for good. They should help the government to get intel from other countries, but they should still know when the US is being stupid and then not hack.
